Privacy Statement

Votivation is committed to protecting your privacy. We encourage you to review this privacy policy to understand our views and practices, and how they relate to you as a user of Votivation.

Questions regarding this policy should be directed to Votivation at admin @ votivation.com.

  1. What information does Votivation compile and use? And what methods does Votivation use to collect information?
Personally identifiable information will be used only for the purposes stated at the time of collection, and within this Policy on Privacy. Votivation collects some information about registered users in order to prevent someone pretending to be another person and posting views with which that person may not agree. Votivation does not share any personally identifiable information with outside parties for commercial purposes, unless stated at the time of collection. We do reserve the right to release that information concerning a member when the member partakes in an illegal activity, or for a member who we believe is in violation of our content guidelines, even without a subpoena, warrant or other court order. Votivation does not assume any responsibility for any actions of third parties. If a visitor simply wants to use Votivation in a generic way (i.e. reading, voting as a "Guest", but no personalization and no posting), he is not required to register. However, if a visitor wants to vote and win prizes at Votivation or post a profile or opinion or use other Votivation services, we require that the visitor completes a registration form, which includes providing us with his or her name, chosen password and valid e-mail address, in addition to some personal information.

We might use the aggregate data we collect to perform statistical analyses of the collective characteristics and behaviour of our members and visitors, to measure or present overall demographics and interests regarding specific areas and to analyse how and where to use our resources. In the future we will also use the aggregate data collected to inform users of demographic trends and results, as well as our sponsors as to the number of people who have seen and clicked on their advertisement.

Votivation uses cookies. A "cookie" is a file transferred from a web site to the hard drive of your computer so that the web site may follow your activities on the web site. Cookies are a way for us to track referring sites, voting, opinion creation, profile creation, provide access to previously entered information to that information owner, who has seen which ads, how often pages are visited, and what the most popular areas of Votivation are.

We save all profiles and opinions. We do not save earlier versions of a profile that has been updated. Manifestos and opinions are kept for an indeterminate amount of time and are accessible to all users at Votivation . No personally identifiable information about the user (the e-mail address and full name are the only personally identifiable information we collect) is available to users of Votivation apart from the owner of that information. Users of Votivation who create a profile may include links to web sites outside the control of Votivation. These web sites may collect personally identifiable information. In addition, Votivation does not encourage the posting of personal contact information within profiles or opinions.

Votivation may highlight some of the best / most popular / any other characteristic profiles or opinions submitted to its web site. If a member or visitor wishes to amend his Votivation profile, he or she may do so using the service. Opinions cannot be amended.

We use e-mail addresses provided so that we may communicate with the user when appropriate (e.g. forgotten password, prize winner advice, warnings on abuse of Votivation). We use mobile/cell phone number and the e-mail address together with a password as unique identifiers for each registered user. We do not allow our members or visitors to use Votivation for the purpose of gathering personally identifiable information for commercial or unlawful purposes.

Votivation does not control the acts of its members and visitors.
  1. What information about users is made available to other users of Votivation ?
All the information you provide in your profile is available to users of Votivation EXCEPT your registered real name, date of birth/age, cell/mobile phone no., e-mail address and of course password.

  2. How does Votivation internally use the data about members and visitors?
We use the aggregate data we collect to perform statistical analyses of the collective characteristics and behaviour of our members and visitors, to measure user demographics and interests regarding specific areas of the Votivation domain and to analyse how and where to invest our resources. We use the aggregated data to present users with voting information.
We will also use the aggregate data collected to inform our sponsors as to numbers of people who have seen and "clicked" on their advertisement.
We will also disclose to those third-party sponsors the overall demographics available regarding who saw and "clicked" on their advertisement.
No personally identifiable information will be disclosed to these advertisers as part of this process; only information in an aggregate form.

  3. How does Votivation disseminate the information collected?
At this time we do not disseminate any information to 3rd parties, other than the information available to users of Votivation, and which the holder of the information has expressly granted dissemination. Votivation may disseminate information in the future, and will update this Privacy Policy accordingly.

  4. What is Votivation 's policy on removing information about a person?
We keep all general information for an indeterminate amount of time. All information contained within a profile may be changed using the "My account" and "My profile" areas. Whilst a user may amend his or her profile, it is not possible to amend opinions. The ability to amend opinions would affect the voting on a particular issue and make Votivation unworkable.

If a member ceases to use Votivation, there will be residual information which will remain within the Votivation database and records. The residual information will not be used for commercial purposes and will usually be deleted within 12-24 months; however, from time to time, we may contact non-active members, though always with the option to unsubscribe from receiving further email contacts.

  5. What information does Votivation collect from children? How does Votivation try to ensure the privacy of children?
Votivation currently defines children as minors under the age of 14 years old.
Votivation is not intended for use by children. We do not employ any parental controls that prohibit children from browsing Votivation . However, a visitor who creates a profile, and by inputting his or her date of birth, indicates that he or she is under 14 years of age, will have the profile rejected.
We therefore do not collect any information on children. A child who has been found to falsify his or her age so as to create a profile will have his or her profile and opinions deleted.

If you think something at Votivation is in breach of our Privacy Policy, please notify us at violation @ votivation.com.
